Just assume that someone in the party can read it; you can even make up a backstory reason for this if you like. I wanted to make them tackling this pyramid to be a memorable and epic event. But for some people, the sheer complexity of the dungeon and the preparation required could be overwhelming and a real turn off. This is partly due to the fact that the adventure was originally designed for tournament play, imagined as a situation I have owned this module for something like thirty years now, and not only have I never played it, so far as I can tell I never even read through the whole thing. Interacting with the adventure just becomes Lucy with the football- "Ha ha, fooled you again". I don't know any which you can get the most shrune playing straight out of the box. Hidden Shrine is a potpourri of set-piece encounters.
For those DMs who have trouble designing their own dungeons, I say buy it. And time is running out Yet in this one, it just seemed almost like a random collection of rooms that were oddly shaped or described making it hard to really give a sense of what's gong on.
At least that way you can get the replaced-party-member situation out of the way quickly, ahrine we all get on with our lives. Didn't really get what this dungeon is all about.
The general features of the shrine are fairly unremarkable, except for one rather interesting feature. If you want, you can include a brief message below as well: I also included it as an episode in an ongoing campaign.

The illustrations are accurate and add an extra dimension to the adventure. With the harsh time limits from the original putting pressure on the players to hurry up, coming from the bottom up, the dungeon is possibly more lethal than the famous 'Tomb of Horrors' for the suggested levels of play. Firstly, I txmoachan like I needed to do a tamoavhan of preparation and planning. This module is meant to stand on its own, and includes areas on the map where Dungeon Masters may add their own levels.
The poison damage specified is 1d6 per hour, so any short rest will probably require spending an additional hit die in order shgine regain the same amount of HP as would be regained without the gas. My favorite room is probably the miniature city; reminds me of Raiders.
Some of the puzzles really needed time to think about how they would work. The player characters explore a stepped pyramid deep in the heart of a tropical jungle—the Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan. You need to log in or create an account to create a new tamoafhan. The lower levels of the shrine, from areas 1 through 38, are filled with a poisonous gas.
Since this dungeon is optimized for 5th-level characters, who have 5 hit dice in total to spend, short rests are significantly more costly than usual. Most of the encounters are designed to delay and destract the players.
Leasonwas printed as a thirty-two page book and an eight-page book with an outer-folder and a two-color cover illustrated by Erol Otusand featured illustrations by Otus and Darlene Pekul. Yes, this is a tournament module with no reasonable plot hook, but srhine absolutely intelligent in design, consistent in style, and it'll make your players wish they stayed home. It's just tamoachxn weird, and I'm not a fan of making adventures that focus on the player as opposed to the character so many riddles and other mental challengesbut I guess you can get around that by telling your players before hand to try to think through mental challenges themselves, and not care about whether their character is smart enough.

Another one of those 5, year unconsciousness poisons can be made with the silvery flask powder and any liquid.
